I have a peeve. What’s up with this term – design thinker?
What does that even mean?
Does a paediatrician introduce himself as a paediatric thinker? An architect as an architectural thinker?
What’s up with that?
If you think like a designer, you’re a designer.
It’s a craft. Pay attention to detail. Take a deep interest in your customer’s business. Solve mundane, microscopic problems. Build value one layer at a time.
Pretty soon the customer is insisting you be a part of the core team, solving the big picture problems.
That’s when you know you’ve built a design practice.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating and the market is quite efficient at that.
There’s no such thing as a design thinker.
